Salman Khan’s romantic drama Sultan opened so strongly in India on Wednesday that it could rank as the biggest of the Bollywood superstar’s career, according to preliminary trade estimates. Produced by Yash Raj Films on a budget of 70 crore ($13 million), the film launched on 4,350 screens in India and day-and-date on 1,100 screens in 50 territories, including most of the major markets except China, where a deal is being negotiated.
