Los Angeles Dodgers Cut Carl Crawford With $35 million Left On His Contract

Over the weekend Carl Crawford was designated for assignment by the Los Angeles Dodgers. The team however is still obligated to pay the 14-year veteran nearly $35 million until the end of next season. The aging veteran and once, fleet-footed four time All-Star has spent several stints on the disabled list since leaving the Tampa Bay Rays, a team that he made his name with. The arrival of Crawford in Los Angeles was noteworthy at the time being a part of a nine-player blockbuster trade which also involved perennial All-Star Adrian Gonzalez and Josh Beckett who retired abruptly in 2014.
