The multinational automakers in the U.K. will at the least pause new investments until new free-trade deals are negotiated, and the cost of imported components will rise on a weaker pound. The closer the new trade arrangements are to the current ones -- access to the single market and the ability to bring in skilled workers -- the less the economic damage.
