Arming Vietnam: Ideology Takes A Backseat To Pragmatism In U.S. Foreign Policy

Critics of the Obama Administration's foreign policy often portray it as weak and naive.  For instance, presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump complained in his first major foreign-policy speech on April 27 that the administration spends too much time "trying to spread universal values that not everybody shares or wants," while neglecting more concrete issues like trade and security.
