If opponents of the Trans-Pacific Partnership succeed in blocking its ratification, after the U.S. commandeered the negotiations and rewrote the trade pact in our image, it would not only be a serious blow to Washington's negotiating credibility. It will lead to other countries doing deals among themselves, freezing the U.S. out. That process is already beginning.
