U.S. Trade Deficit Exploded In 2018 As Total Trade Hit A Record $4 Trillion

For the first time in 12 years, the United States set a record for total trade, total exports, total imports and total deficit all in one year, with imports from China topping $500 billion for the first time despite the U.S. trade war with that country.
