Trump's China Advisors Aren't Wrong About The Severity Of The U.S.-China Trade Deficit

The hope that the U.S. trade deficit would decline was a key argument in favour of China's accession to the WTO in the first place, by allowing for far greater U.S. exports to China than had hitherto been possible. In 2015, however, the trade deficit peaked at $367 billion, from around $50 billion.
